I have been admiring Amartya Sen, the great nobel laureate for Economics. After having started his book on the"The argumentative Indian", I have a greater respect for him. His book is takes you through transcedental phases of medeival India to modern India. From Great Indian philosphers to highly regarded Mathematicians in 4th century B.C, he reflects the true mindest of Indian thinking. He brings in this term called "heterodoxy" into his writings which truly reflects about why Indians are opinionated. It stems out of a multidiverse, multifaceted , multi religious society which helps blending our thought process.
Well , a little randomize thought process!! I have taken Insurance and risk management class this Fall. The class talks about heterodoxy in terms of risk, which brings about classification and competition and in turn leads to adverse selection. In corelating this to India, if we do beleive in heterodoxy, it has led to four distinct set of classes. But it should changed to competition. But the educated class didn't ever let it happen and tried to protect its thoughts from tricking down to the lower caste people.
I hope to see a change and transformation happening since internet is making its way to common people in India. Since Indian claims of true democracy , where your thoughts are not being hindered by our government, I feel a change is definet in the hindsight.
Last night I was watching a show on CBS-"The Dirty Jobs". This show is dedicated to the people who are a part of this burgeoing economy working at the back and are unheard of. The show last night was based on Alligator Egg Farming. This apparently is a multi million dollar business in Lousiana. The state of Louisiana is famous for 30,000 acre of swamps which houses 300,000 alligator eggs every year during the peak season. Resident of Lousiana hold property rights to hunt for these eggs. The hunting of eggs is a tehnosophsticated process involving the GPS and a chopper. The show defeinely gave me chill bumps sitting in front of the TV. Well people make a living out of it and I know realize why the alligator appetizer I had in Bossier City was US$ 15 a plate.
Its 12:40 and I have had a rough day after taking my mid term for Insurance and Risk management. I haven't cracked it but some of the questions were intriguing in the paper.
Yesterday I had to take a test on Adavance database management. Its tough when an Asian sets a paper. Dr.Kim is known for setting papers which makes you brain hurt.
So I call it a day!!
