Re: Rape of the Aravallis

This is an excellent post by Rajiv Kalra in reference to the destruction of natural resources to satiate the needs of a growing population.

In the US, Walmart accquires a land to build their massive warehouses which stores made in China-->Dump in America goods. In order to build these massive concrete jungles to accomdate 50,000 cars (hypothetical figure) in their parking lots, they often go outskirts to build one.

The federal government has put in legal policies in place before these conglomerates open massive stores like Home depot, lowes, walmart, IKEA. They have made it mandatory to plant as many trees as they destroy to build these huge stores. In my opinion its a good idea to save the planet.

I am not a very strong advocate of global warming since I have not lived past 30 years to witness a climatic lifecyle. Although, In the years that I have lived in Bombay, I travelled around and have seen the transformation of climatic conditions. Its got warmer as the decades have progressed. Year after Year I have read the tropical climate is getting hotter in the sub continent.

In my opinion there are solutions to global warming.

1. Volunteer work- Every Sunday a group of employees from every industries or conglomerate must get together and plant trees in their neighborhood .

2. Students in school need to take a mandatory class every year on enviornment .

3. Recycle Garbage.

4. Avoid using plastic bags for grocery shopping. Its not bio degradable.

5. Brainstorming / Blogging - This can lead to creative ideas around the world. The internet is a great place to share our ideas.

Should Education be expensive?
